Craps Online

Craps is an evergreen and popular dice game that has transitioned its way into the online gaming sphere after becoming one of the top table games of land casinos around the world.

While known as a land-based game, there are plenty of positives to playing online craps, such as:

  • There are lower minimum bets compared to land-based casinos - opening it up as a game for all-comers.
  • Many online casinos offer live dealer casinos.
  • A less intense way to learn how to play than online.
  • Easier to place your bets on the table online than in a land-based casino.

How We Rate the Best Online Craps Casinos

You now know our recommended casinos - but how do we go about rating them? What are the things we look for when evaluating online casinos with Craps games?

Several assets tick our boxes - these are what we consider the most important when analyzing a casino:

  • Is your money safe at the casino in question? Are there regulatory bodies in place that help guard your banking information?
  • Is there a healthy selection of craps tables that cater to the low-stakes player and the high-rollers?
  • Is there a strong live casino to play?
  • Is Live Craps available around the clock?
  • Are there responsible gaming tools readily available?
  • Is the casino in possession of a known license from a reputable regulator?

If the answer to all the above questions is yes, then it gets a thumbs up.

Types Of Online Craps Available

Historians allege that the first Craps dice were rolled around the turn of the 18th and 19th century. However, like many table games, the passages of time mean there are now varying versions.

Here are some examples:

  • Bank Craps: The most popular version of craps - the rules of which we will go into later.
  • Simplified Craps: A good starting point for beginners.
  • Die Rich Craps: You only roll one die instead of two. Again, a good game for beginners.
  • New York Craps: You bet on the outcome of two die by placing your betting chips on box numbers.
  • Crapless Craps: It's Craps, but without the Craps. A rarer format, and much more complicated.

Quick Overview of How to Play Craps

The following rules are in relation to the classic version.

The betting round in Craps begins with the Come-Out roll - this will happen directly after the previous betting round has finished. It establishes whether the shooter (you, or any other player at the table) wins, loses, or carries on.

To be in with a shot of winning some money, you must place a minimum qualifying bet on the pass line (or don't pass line, if you don't think the shooter will roll a good number). If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 (Craps) on the come-out roll, you win double your stake back, and the shooter gets to roll again. If the shooter rolls a 2, 3 or 12, you lose (win, if you backed don't pass), but the shooter gets to roll again. Any other number indicates the point, allowing the game to move forward.

Once you are aware of the point (look for a puck-like symbol that reads "ON" on the craps table) - the gameplay changes. Now, the last total you want to hit is 7 or 11. The aim is to roll the point number again before hitting craps (7 or 11) - manage that, and you'll win!

That is a very brief overview of the most basic rules of Online Craps. To find out more, you can head to any online casino game client and load the game rules. Most casinos also enable an in-game live chat function - allowing you to ask professional dealers questions about how the game is played.

Best Craps Strategies

Like any Live Casino table game, there are some strategies you can employ when playing craps.

Look at a few suggestions below - some of which may prove particularly useful for beginners:

Nothing But The Pass Line

It may not be as action-packed - but betting on the Pass Line is a simple way to ease your way into the game. Plus, the casino only carries an edge of 1.41%.

Bet Against The Shooter

Are the rolls blowing more cold, than hot? You can switch to the dark side and bet Don't Pass - this is when you think the shooter will throw a 2, 3, or 12.

Keep Track Of The Trends

Much like roulette, a lot of Craps involves prop bets and predicting how the die will fall. There is no exact science - but if you're statistically minded, this strategy may itch that scratch.

Best Tips on How to Win at Craps

There are no specific tips we can give you on how you can win at Craps - the casino is always primed to win, thanks to their house edge.

Our best advice is to read through strategies online until you've found one that suits you and then give it a try while you learn the fundamentals of the game.

However, we can advise you on how to stay in control, which will give you a more enjoyable experience. After all, playing Craps is a form of light entertainment and not a legitimate way to make money.

Try to adhere to the following:

  • Set loss limits and deposit limits using the responsible gaming tools onsite.
  • Set a budget and stick to it.
  • Try not to play while intoxicated - your judgment is impaired.
  • Find yourself ahead? Quit while you're ahead and withdraw!
